SYRACUSE -- Police are investigating a late morning stabbing on the west side of Syracuse, which has left a man in critical condition.
According to Syracuse Police spokesman Sgt. Tom Connellan, a man was found laying on the ground near a house on the 500 block on Seymour Street Wednesday morning. Police say they believe the victim, a 34-year-old male, was arguing with a group of several other men on a trail between Seymour Street and Shonnard Street. The victim was stabbed during the confrontation, and ran away from his attackers for approximately a block before collapsing in a field.
Connellan says the victim was rushed to Upstate University Hospital. He is currently undergoing surgery for his injuries and is listed in critical condition. No word yet on the victim’s identification.
Police say they are interviewing witnesses and looking for the public's help in identifying suspects in this case. If you have any information you are asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 442-5222.
