SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man is facing several charges after police say he stole a car and lead officers on a chase.
Investigators say 34-year-old Juan Ramos stole a firefighter's personal pickup truck from the firehouse on North Geddes Street early Wednesday morning. When Officer Jeffery Fleming spotted Ramos driving the truck at the corner of Merriman Avenue and Oswego Street, he tried to get Ramos to pull over. Instead, police say Ramos drove off. The chase went through Syracuse's west side and ended several minutes later in the 100 block of Park Avenue.
Police say Ramos jumped out of the truck and ran away. He was caught shortly after. Officers say Ramos didn't put the truck in park when he ran off, so the truck kept going and hit a parked car.
Ramos is facing several charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and reckless driving.
Ramos is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center until his arraignment, which is scheduled for Thursday morning.
