In recent years, plenty of headlines have featured some sort of climate change wording. What’s interesting, though, is that while 63 percent of Americans believe global warming is happening, many admit not knowing why.
In this article from Science Daily, some of the major points of a national study conducted by Yale University are examined. It should be noted that this article takes the approach that global warming is “mostly caused by human activities.” This viewpoint is not shared by everyone in the meteorological community, as many meteorologists believe human activities play a relatively small role in climate change.
A couple other terms that often get tossed around in the global warming political debate include “ocean acidification” and “coral bleaching.” The study finds 75 percent of Americans have never heard of either of those phenomena.
In the study, only 1 in 10 people say that they are “very well-informed” about climate change. Additionally, 75 percent said they would like to know more about the issue.
