CICERO -- A former sheriff’s deputy who recently resigned from his position has been arrested, accused of having a sexual relationship with an underage boy.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Alexander Nicholson of Dewey Avenue in Cicero has been charged with felony second degree criminal sexual act, misdemeanor third degree sexual abuse, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Police say Nicholson, a deputy for eight years, resigned on October 8 when detectives began investigating allegations that he had sex with a 14-year-old boy. The alleged conduct is reported to have taken place in July and August of 2007 while Nicholson was off duty.
Nicholson was arraigned in the Town of Cicero Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
Nicholson was awarded the sheriff’s office Medal of Valor in 2008. In 2004, he was credited with saving a woman's life. Nicholson used an automatic external defibrillator to give the victim electric shocks after her heart failed.
