Man dead after car-pedestrian collision

UTICA -- A man is dead in Oneida County after he was hit by a car Friday morning.

According to Utice Police, an unidentified man was walking along the northbound lane of Genesee Street in Utica on the 2600 block when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Emergency crews were called to the scene and the man was taken to nearby St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police say the incident happened at approximately 6:08 a.m., and traffic was closed on that portion of Genesee Street while investigators attempted to recreate the accident.

Police have not yet identified the individuals involved in the collision, and say their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information on the case are asked to call the Utica Police Department at 315-223-3510.
