The 49th State Senate district stretches across Central New York from Cayuga County all the way into Oneida County and both men who hope to represent it were working late on Monday.
Democrat David Valesky spent much of the afternoon in Madison County before returning to Syracuse and meeting with his campaign staff.
Valesky acknowledged his campaign office looked like organized chaos and said the last few days have been a frenzy of activity.
"With get out the vote weekend and today - the last several days – it’s a big push to get our supporters out tomorrow,” said Valesky.
Republican Andrew Russo went door to door on Monday. Despite the chilly air and threatening clouds, Russo said he likes talking to people face to face. Russo also said most of the people he met didn’t need a reminder to vote.
"I'm sensing that people are being reminded more than they need to be,” said Russo. “I'm apologizing for all the commercials, all the mail, everything we hit them with. I think there's a great relief on everyone's part that it's election day tomorrow - people are going to go out and vote."
The winner may be decided by voters like Ryan Mone who still haven't made up their mind. Mone says he'll be voting for the candidate who he thinks can do the best job with his two main concerns.
"Job growth and reducing taxes. We have three small children and taxes eat up a lot of our income," said Mone.
Both candidates also said there is only so much they can do on the final day. Ultimately they said they have to let go and leave it up to voters to decide on a winner.
