ALTMAR, OSWEGO CO. -- A tiny village in Oswego County could be history today. Voters in Altmar will head to the polls today to decide whether to dissolve the village.
If they decide to dissolve the village, it would end 134 years of history for the more than 300 people who live there. If approved, Altmar will dissolve into the Town of Albion.
One big concern for some people is the loss of the fire department, which is currently controlled by the village.
This is what voters in the Village of Seneca Falls agreed to earlier this year. Click here to read our coverage when Seneca Falls voters decided to dissolve the village. Other communities across the state are considering doing the same.
The polls will be open from noon until 9 p.m. at the Village's municipal building.

When we originally posted a story back in August about the possibility of Altmar dissolving, one reader wrote, "I went to kindergarden in Altmar in 1957-58,kinda sad to see this happen, but as some once told me 'nothing is forever.'"
