LIVERPOOL -- Calling all blood donors. The American Red Cross needs your help and they're changing their hours at one donation center to make it easier for you to donate.
As we get closer to the holidays, the need for blood donations increases. It's a time when blood donations typically decline.
The Red Cross is encouraging anyone eligible to donate to give blood. Just one point of blood could save up to three lives. Red blood cells help people with severe trauma injuries and chronic anemia. Platelets benefit cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and plasma helps burn victims and patients with critical diseases.
The Red Cross is extending its hours at its Liverpool blood donation center at 7359 Oswego Road.
Here are the new hours:
Saturdays, 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Sundays, 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Mondays, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Tuesdays, 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursdays, 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Fridays, 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
If you'd like to donate, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or click here to make an appointment.
People who are 17-years-old, meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood.
