A new study gives you a peak inside the paycheck of school employees across the state. It was released Wednesday by the Empire Center for New York State Policy.
The study finds there's a wide range of pay scales across the state, with the highest teacher and administrator compensation downstate in Westchester County and Long Island. The highest paid school employee is James Feltman, the retiring Superintendent for the Commack School District in Suffolk County. He was paid $657,970 in the last year.
Locally, teachers and district leaders salaries are wide ranging, depending on the district. Ithaca City School employees, for example, have the highest average salary in Tompkins County. Read more about it here.
