Friday is National Adoption Day, and Onondaga County celebrates with an event on Friday morning at Syracuse's Oncenter. Mary Leahy, who coordinates adoptions for the Department of Social Services, says the event is a celebration and includes formalizing adoptions for several families, but it's also informative for people interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.
Leahy says there is lots of information and support for foster and adoptive parents, both from official and medical people and from other parents who are caring for children, and many of those groups and resources will have displays at Friday's event.
The Oncenter will open at 8:30 on Friday with events scheduled to start at 9:30, running all morning.  For more,  www.giveyourlifeasmile.com   or  435-3827.
