SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say shots were fired at a "stop the violence" prayer vigil Sunday.
A number of community members joined together and marched through the streets to Kirk Park, where they held a prayer vigil. They were aiming to raise awareness to the growing gun violence problem among youth. Organizers say about three dozen people participated in the march, including three relatives of homicide victims.
Syracuse Police spokesman Sgt. Tom Connellan says three suspects approached the group in the park, and opened fire. The community activists scattered, and when they went back to the park to grab their belongings, the suspects fired again. No one was injured.
Connellan says one of the suspects is described as a black male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.
This month alone there have been ten teenagers involved in shootings in the city.
Police are looking for the suspects. If you have any information you are asked to call 442-5222.
