Spend a little now to save a lot later. That’s the reasoning behind replacing with or buying new energy-efficient light bulbs.
Many Central New Yorkers will celebrate this holiday season by decorating their home, property and Christmas tree with multiple strands of lights. While the electric company my love you doing this, your wallet won’t. Just look at this amazing comparison. Replacing just one traditional seven-watt incandescent bulb is enough to power 140 LEDs – that’s two 24-foot strings of LED lights!
According to the Energystar.gov website “Light emitting diodes, or LEDs, are small light sources that are illuminated by the movement of electrons through a semiconductor material”. You can find more on decorating the holidays with today’s technology and energy star qualified light strands here.
The newer lights are more expensive than the older, incandescent bulbs, but by making the switch now you’ll end up saving money in the long run. Here’s a tip for those who want to jump on the movement but are watching their pennies closely; hold off until after Christmas to buy them. Store shelves are loaded currently with the newer and higher priced LED lights. Expect big discounts on them at those after Christmas sales as stores will want to clear them out.
Not only will you be saving some dough in your pocket, you’ll also be helping to save the environment by using less electricity. It’s an easy and small step that anyone can do to in part help fight global warming.
