EAST SYRACUSE --
A local dentist faces disciplinary charges stemming from several incidents involving patients.
Dr. Deepika Reddy is accused of practicing with negligence on more than one occasion at her private dental office, East Syracuse Family Dental Arts on Manlius Center Road. Reddy did not contest the charges against her, including errors in the treatment of seven patients involving extractions and root canals.
Reddy is accused of fracturing a patient's jaw while trying to extract a tooth.
In another instance, she is accused of failing to adequately treat a patient when performing a root canal, including failing to remove decayed tissue resulting in pain, swelling and infections in the patient for two years.
In a separate incident, Reddy is accused of leaving part of an instrument in the root of a tooth.
Reddy's license to practice dentistry was partially suspended in the area of endodontics and all oral surgeries. She she was fined $1,000 and will remain on probation for three years. Reddy will now have to undergo retraining.
