OSWEGO -- The City of Oswego has issued a reminder that the city's winter parking ban will go into effect this weekend.
According to a news release from Mayor Randy Bateman, the ban will go into effect at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 4, and will remain in effect until further notice. Bateman says that during the ban "the parking of any vehicle on all highways and streets shall be prohibited between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m."
Oswego Police will only issue courtesy tickets for the first two nights that the parking ban is in effect. City Hall says the restrictions may be lifted at the mayor discretion.
Earlier Friday, the lake effect snow accumulating on the ground east of Lake Ontario caused some problems for public transportation in Oswego County.
According to Centro, bus service inside the City of Oswego was suspended for much of Friday morning, and service to the Village of Mexico was been delayed. Centro says this is due to "severe snow conditions."
Centro says service is now operating on its regular schedule in Oswego County.
Centro is a member of the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority and is responsible for commuter bus service in Onondaga, Cayuga, Oneida, and Oswego Counties. Centro provides intra-city service in Auburn, Oswego, Fulton, Syracuse, Utica and Rome as well as service from Syracuse to Auburn, Fulton, and Oswego.
