SYRACUSE (AP) -- A Syracuse-area lawyer faces up to three to nine years in state prison for stealing more than $750,000 from clients and not reporting the extra income on his tax returns.
Fifty-four-year-old Michael Marmor of Manlius pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree grand larceny, first-degree scheme to defraud, and tax fraud.
Onondaga County Court Judge Joseph Fahey promised to cap any punishment at three to nine years. Marmor could have gotten up to 15 years in prison.
Marmor also will be required to pay more than $870,000 in restitution and more than $114,000 in taxes.
Marmor has been in county jail on $100,000 bail since his arrest. Fahey scheduled sentencing for Jan. 26.
