Back to back lake effect snow events put Syracuse in the books
SYRACUSE -- UPDATE #10: To include snowfall through Saturday:
The last 2 weeks of steady lake effect snow has allowed the Syracuse area to shatter a new snowfall record for any December in history since 1902. Through Saturday, Hanock Airport has received 70.9" of snow, putting us at the top of the list below:

1. 70.9" - 2010
1. 70.3" - 2000
3. 64.6" - 1989
4. 57.3" - 2008
5. 53.0" - 2005
Now that Syracuse has set a new record for the most snow for December, there is plenty of time left in the month to potentially challenge another, even more impressive one. Can December 2010 be the snowiest month ever for any month of the year? Let's see where Syracuse stands on that list:
