If you're thinking about going out to pick up a late night snack -- don't do it.
To say the very least, driving conditions across Central New York are subpar. In my travels today, I stopped in Baldwinsville and Liverpool before taking the Thruway to Canastota -- where a travel advisory has been issued for all of Madison County. Each road, respectively, was blanketed in snow. At one point on the Thruway, traffic was only moving about 30 mph.
When I finally got to Canastota, I caught up with some drivers who were just as unfortunate to be on the roads tonight. This is how they described their experiences to me:
"Most of the time, you can't see over 20 yards in front of you," said Mallory Wilder, Oneida. "It was completely white out most of the drive."
"It's really slick, grainy and not fun -- hard to see," said Jason Aikens, Canastota.
"It's very slow, it's very slippery and it's kind of scary," said Deanna Warner of Canastota. "Just as long as you stay far away from the person in front of you and you go slow, you should be fine."
The travel advisory for Madison County ends at 8 a.m. Thursday. But no matter where you live across Central New York, be careful driving and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.
If you were out on the roads today, what were they like? Are you glad we're finally seeing some snowfall in Central New York?
