SYRACUSE -- The man accused of killing a toddler in an alleged gang-related shooting is now facing more charges for another shooting incident.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said Friday morning that 21-year-old Saquan Evans of South Salina Street in Syracuse has been charged with four counts of attempted murder. The D.A. says Evans is the man behind a shooting at 321 Shirley Drive in Syracuse on November 7 that injured four young men who were standing in a garage. The victims were all hospitalized, but survived their injuries.

Evans is currently being held in jail without bail for the shooting death of 20-month-old Rashaad Walker, Jr. He is charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say on November 28 Evans fired a weapon into a minivan holding Walker, his parents, and other passengers. Several bullets struck the toddler and killed him.

The circumstances surrounding the death of Walker, Jr. have lead law enforcement officials to label the shootings as ‘gang-related’. Walker’s father, Rashaad Walker, Sr. is a member of the 110 Gang, and Evans is a member of the rival Bricktown Gang.

Police also say Walker, Jr.’s death was in retaliation for a November 26 shooting that killed 19-year-old former Henninger star athlete Kihary Blue. Blue was shot while riding in a car on Interstate 81 and died nearly a week later. No arrests have been made in that case.
