If you're 60  or over and are having trouble with heating bills, HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) can help, but you need to act now.

Lisa Alford, Onondaga County's Commissioner of Aging and Youth, says funds are available now, but will only last until they run out, which is likely to happen before peak heating season is done.

Besides the website you can also get in touch by phone at 315-435-2362.
To qualify, a household of one may have a monthly gross income of $2,179. A household of two may have a monthly income of $2,784. Emergency HEAP benefits are also available for those in need.

Alford says seniors don't have to come to her Civic Center offices to apply, it can all be done by phone, internet or mail.
