NEW HARTFORD -- An Oneida County man is under arrest after police say he threatened a store security guard with a knife.
According to the New Hartford Police Department, officers responded to a report of shoplifting at the Kohl’s department store in The Orchards shopping plaza Monday morning. When police arrived, they were told by a Kohl’s security officer that 32-year-old Jose A. Rodriguez of Rome pointed a black metal folding knife at the officer. After some discussion Rodriguez handed over the knife and was taken into custody.
Rodriguez has been charged with petit larceny, second degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second degree menacing, all misdemeanors. He was arraigned in New Hartford Town Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $600 cash bail.
