SYRACUSE -- Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.
The terrorist attack killed a total of 270 people on board the plan and on the ground in the Scottish community of Lockerbie. Some 40 of the victims had ties to Central New York.
Today, Syracuse University will pay tribute to the 35 students affiliated with its study abroad program who died on the London to New York flight. A service will be held at Hendricks Chapel Nobel Room at 2:03 p.m., the time of the attack. Following the service, there will be a procession to the Wall of Remembrance.
The chimes at Crouse College will also sound 35 times. On that flight were 35 Syracuse University students who were studying abroad, two Oswego State students, a Colgate University student, and a couple from the Town of Clay.
