CLAY, ONONDAGA CO. -- Residents in the Town of Clay are being advised of issues with the quality of their drinking water.
The Town of Clay water department recently sent a letter to residents notifying them that the town’s water system “recently violated a drinking water standard”. The town says 2 of 24 samples of water collected on November 3 and 17 showed the presence of Total Coliform bacteria. The town says that no more than one sample may be positive in any given month.
According to the town, this is not an emergency and they are not advising any residents or business to boil water or take other actions. They do, however, warn that those with severely compromised immune systems, as well as infants and the elderly, may be at an increased risk and may want to seek medical advice.
The town says they have taken repeat samples, which tested negative for coliform. The town also stressed that they did not find any instances of E. Coli or other bacteria of greater concern.
