SYRACUSE -- It's official, a 36-year staple on the SU Hill will move to make way for a popular chain restaurant on Marshall Street.
King David's Restaurant says it will relocate upstairs from it's current location. It says the setting will be smaller and more intimate, but will still serve up the same food. It's been cooking up Middle Eastern cuisine in Syracuse since 1974.
Chipotle will move in downstairs within the next 3 to 4 months. The popular mexican chain recently opened a store on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt.
"Chipotle will attract a lot of people in the area, over on the boulevard they are so busy," said Charles Hatem, co-owner of King David's. "I think some of the overflow may even come upstairs to our place."
King David's will close this Friday and hopes to be open upstairs by early spring. The new place is just 14 stairs higher than the old eatery, and Hatem says it has a great view of Syracuse.
