Volunteers serve food at the Rescue Mission in Syracuse
Christmas Day is always a special day at the Rescue Mission in Syracuse. But this year, the day was even more significant.
A record number of people were in need this year, and the community showed up to support them.
Over 1,500 people were given meals on Christmas Day. 200 volunteers delivered meals to homes and served Christmas dinner at the Rescue Mission Center.
Charles Fregin was one of the 1,500 that received a Christmas dinner, and he is very appreciative of the support.
"It really touches me that there are people here in the city who do care, and do their best to help people that do need it from time to time," Fregin says.
The day didn't end with the Christmas meals. The Rescue Mission set up a big screen TV so people could watch the Christmas Day NBA games.
