AUBURN -- An estranged couple is under arrest after police say an argument led to a stabbing early Monday morning.
According to Auburn Police, officers responded to a call of a domestic incident at 182 Cottage Street around 3:19 a.m. Upon arrival police say they found a woman, 29-year-old Brandy Lynn Harvey of the same address, walking away from the home. Police then went into the residence to find the other person involved in the incident, identified as 29-year-old Mark David France, also of the same address. Police say they did not find him in the home, but instead received a phone call that he was at Auburn Memorial Hospital receiving treatment for a stab wound.
Police say their investigation revealed that Harvey and France were in a relationship, and have a one-month-old child. Police say they were in the middle of an argument that turned violent, and Harvey stabbed France in the chest with a knife. Police say France then left the residence and went to the hospital on his own for treatment, which consisted of seven staples to close the puncture wound.
Harvey has been charged with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Upon release from the hospital, France was arrested and charged with criminal contempt for violating an order of protection. Both Harvey and France were arraigned in Auburn City Court and remanded to Cayuga County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond for each.
