Some students in parts of Central New York had an extra hour or two of the Christmas-New Year's break.

Lake effect snow in parts of Oswego and Oneida counties prompted several districts to delay the start of school today to give highway department crews a chance to clear the snow so buses could hit the road safely.

Meteorologist Peter Hall says main bands of Lake Ontario snow showers will remain mostly east of Lake Ontario. Some morning snow showers as far south as Route 31 before moving back north slightly. Additional accumulation east of the lake and north of Route 31 of Trace-3", with up to 3-6" for the Tug Hill.

Elsewhere, expect partial sunshine with an odd flurry or two. Breezy at times with cold wind chills. Winds: west 10-20 miles per hour.
