SYRACUSE -- Homeowners looking to save money on their energy bills this winter could be in luck.

New York State is continuing to offer low cost energy audits, loans and even cash back for homeowners who make their homes more energy efficient. The Green Jobs-Green New York program offers free home energy audits to Onondaga County residents making a combined income of less than $124,000 dollars a year.

Homeowners who qualify can borrow up to $1,300 cash back on home energy improvement loans of up to $13,000 with an interest rate of just 3.49%.

Ellis Guiles of TAG Mechanical says now is a good time to take advantage of this deal, and homeowners who do will be making a good investment.

"The energy they save by making these energy efficiency improvements to their homes should help homeowners pay for the cost of the loan. Everybody wins on this deal," he says.
