A world-class athlete is giving back to her community, by sharing lessons in her sport, for free.
Kelly Schalk, a former World Cup Nordic (Cross Country) skier, is guiding ski tours at Highland Forest, and offering advice on improving participants' skiing styles.   The Cazenovia native offered her services to Onondaga County Parks, for free.
Highland's manager, Brian Kelley, says that in addition to the  Saturday morning ski outings, Schalk will do afternoon youth programs that will include learn-to-ski and games on skis.   The 9:30am adult outings are free with park admission, the youth programs (an adult must accompany) at 1:30pm are $10 per child, per week.  The program runs Saturdays (except Feb. 5) until February 26th.  For more information: www.OnondagaCountyParks.com or 683-5550.
