LIVERPOOL -- The Liverpool school district is expected to consider a $32 million dollar renovation plan at their meeting tonight. However, that plan includes improvements to Chestnut Hill Elementary School and Chestnut Hill Middle School, two schools the district is considering closing.
A committee of parents, community members, and school employees recommended closing the Chestnut Hill schools because of declining enrollment and the need for improvements at the school buildings. The district closed Wetzel Road Elementary School last year.
The renovation plan includes improvements across the district to roofs, heating systems, windows, doors, and sidewalks. If the board approves the plan, the public will still have the chance to vote on it in April.
