The winter storm heading up the East Coast is already hindering travel for people in Central New York. Numerous flights are cancelled out of Syracuse’s Hancock Airport this afternoon. Ahead of the storm, flights with scheduled departures to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Washington, Newark, Philadelphia, JFK in New York and Chicago have been grounded.
It’s making for a light schedule this afternoon out of Syracuse as airlines are taking a preventative approach to keep travelers from becoming stranded.
The Cuomo Administration is also getting ahead of the storm in Albany. The Thruway Authority has advised against travel into the New York City and Hudson Valley region until the end of the storm. It is closing the Thruway to tandem trucks from Schenectady to New York City. Those are the longer combination vehicle trucks known as LCV’s.
