House Republicans are determined to repeal the health care reform law, which many of them are calling "Obamacare."
Meanwhile, people in Central New York are sharing their opinions on the issue.
Janet Trautwein, the CEO of the National Association of Health Underwriters, was speaking in East Syracuse today, sharing her concerns about the law.
Trautwein says she'd like to see the law repealed because she believes it didn't do anything to address the high cost of care. She also says it's not business friendly, and the cost of healthcare could increase 50% in New York state.
"At this point, there are so many things that are causing problems, we'd like to see it go away, and do it right," says Trautwein.
Still, there are some people in favor of the law.
Dr. Bonnie Koreff-Wolf is an internist in Syracuse. She says the current health care system presents challenges. When she sees a patient, if she decides a special exam needs to be ordered, she has to wait for special authorization from an insurance company. In some cases, the process can delay care.
Dr. Wolf says the health care reform law is a step in the right direction.
"Maybe it wasn't perfect, but there were a lot of good points to it," says Wolf. "I do believe everybody in this country deserves to get affordable health care, and that's not what happens now."
Congress is expected to vote on the issue as early as Wednesday.
