HENRIETTA, NY (AP) -- Police say two teenagers are heroes for disarming another teen who was stabbing his girlfriend in the face inside a suburban Rochester supermarket.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Nicole Bean and 18-year-old Kevin Minemier, both of Henrietta, were shopping at Wegmans Tuesday night when Minemier pulled out a 6-inch knife and stabbed Bean several times in face and shoulders.

Other shoppers heard her screams and rushed to her aid, including 16-year-old Chris Patino and 19-year-old Mustafa Said. Police say the teens fought with Minemier and took the knife from him.

Bean suffered a serious eye injury and remains hospitalized.

Minemier was charged with attempted murder and assault. He's being held in jail without bail.

It wasn't known if he has a lawyer.
