OSWEGO -- An Oswego mother is accused of driving while high on drugs with children in the car.
Oswego police say Jodi Daniels, 26, of 37 Lakeview Road, was on drugs while driving with an 11-month-old and 4-year-old in the car. Police say the 11-month-old was not in the property safety restraint.
Police pulled Daniels over around 11 a.m. Thursday near State Route 104 east and City Line Road when an officer noticed she was driving with an expired state inspection sticker.
Daniels is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, which is a felony. She is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving while ability impaired by drugs and faces various traffic violations.
"While this is clearly an unfortunate incident for all involved, we are grateful for the actions of our officer as they may well have prevented something much more tragic," said Oswego Police Chief Michael Dehm, Jr. "I hope that such arrests serve to increase public awareness of our never ending effort to fight the extreme public danger created by intoxicated drivers."
Daniels was arraigned in Oswego City Court and released on $1,000 cash bail. She is due back in court next Tuesday.
