Kickoff-benefit fundraiser underway today
Syracuse is hosting the Winter Special Olympics for New York State , with opening ceremonies at the Oncenter on Friday at 7pm, and competition underway at the War Memorial-Oncenter (Floor Hockey, Figure and Speed Skating), Highland Forest
(Nordic Skiing), Snoe Shoeing (Thornden Park) and Alpine Skiing (Toggenburg) scheduled on Saturday. Melissa Fleischmann, with Special Olympics, says athletes are coming from all over the state, and that spectators are welcome at all events, for free.
