A group hoping to build a new turf field at Fayetteville-Manlius High School says they are within 150,000 dollars of their goal. The group is hoping to raise the additional cash by March 1st. The Fayetteville-Manlius Community Sports Facility Association was organized to raise money for the new turf field and track after voters rejected the districts plan to install a turf field.
Organizers of the fundraising effort say they've raised 200,000 thousand dollars in the past 60 days.
"It's crunch time", said Kevin Hanlon, a member of the FMCSFA. "We've received dozens of new gifts in recent weeks, which we are very encouraged about, but we need everybody who cares about this project to step forward now to make this happen."
Organizers say a very competitive construction environment has brought down the expected cost of the project.
