SYRACUSE -- Central New Yorkers woke to a coating of one to three inches of snow this morning, making roads slick, especially as temperatures dropped.

We heard about a growing number of accidents and vehicles sliding off the road around Onondaga County since about 5:00 am. You might want to check out the web site of the State DOT for a look at cameras of the highways around here.

It is mostly quiet on the school front, just a handful of closings and delays. You can see the list here.

Meteorologist Peter Hall says we can expect colder temperatures and some more snow:

Tuesday temperatures will be tumbling all day long. Technically speaking, the "official high temperature" for Syracuse should occur at 12:01am (yep, 1 minute after midnight Monday night). That is when the temperatures will still be around 31°. However, daytime temperatures around 20-25° at sunrise Tuesday should drop through the Teens during the day. Wind chills will be worse due to strengthening wind speeds. Expect a 5 to 15° wind chill in the morning to fall to 5° below zero by sunset Tuesday. A spray of disorganized snow showers and flurries in the morning will likely organize into a band of stronger lake effect snow during the afternoon and continue through the evening. It appears that the corridor of sections of Wayne, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison and Otsego could pick up several inches by the end of the day Tuesday. Wind: NW 10-20 then WNW 20-30 with gusts to 40 MPH.
