OSWEGO -- Lake effect snow is the gift that just keeps giving in Oswego. The city has already been battered by weeks of snowfall, and a persistent band of snowfall has been hanging over the city.

SUNY Oswego statistics professor Christopher Mosbo was shoveling out and thinking about how to use the totals in his classroom.

"When the numbers come in, we'll take a look at this and compare this winter to previous winters," said Mosbo.

The snowfall clogged roads, made travel difficult and overwhelmed some neighbors who are used to heavy snow but others said it's easier to accept it.

"You kind of get used to it," said Justin Morrison. "You get a routine for how you want to snow blow and how you have to snow blow."

Conditions weren't bad everywhere in Oswego County. Ten miles away in Fulton there was blue sky and sunshine.

Plows and snow blowers have made some Oswego street corners into small mountains just waiting to be conquered. Canale's restaurant on the city's west side put a table and two chairs on top of a 11 foot tall snow bank. Two SUNY Oswego students climbed to the top of the snow bank on Wednesday for a photo shoot.

"This is the best view - people should have to pay for this!" said Annie Hidley.

Previous Coverage from Tuesday:

Neighbors all across Oswego County says they are exhausted by the seemingly non-stop snow.

In Fulton, the people are used to snow, storms and digging out - but they're also wishing it would stop.

"We've got the shovel going and we're going full force. It's a winter like I can't remember and it just doesn't let up," said Susan Cook as she shoveled her driveway.

Many said it feels like the snow has been falling non stop for weeks. The constant shoveling has tested the patience of even the heartiest natives.

The snow banks on the side of some roads got so high, the city had to shave them down so cars could pass safely.

Homeowners are also having trouble finding places to put the snow after they shovel it. Some houses in Fulton have more than eight feet of snow piled up by their driveways.

Vinny DiVergilio has been firing up the snow blower two or three times a day and he wasn't sure his snow blower would be able to clear the giant snow banks for much longer.

DiVergilio is also developing a sort of love/hate relationship with the plows that keep the roads clear.

"Soon as you clear this, the plow comes by and plows you back in.  It's a guarantee. I'll get finished and the plow will be by in five minutes," said DiVertilio.

Even in the midst of one of the harshest winters in years, there are optimists. Sharon Utick said shoveling snow gave her a break from exercising on her treadmill and thought the snow was OK if you were dressed right for it.

For everyone else - spring is less than two months away.
