ALBANY -- Economic Development in upstate NY was the focus of a hearing in Albany, and a public relations blunder on-line.
A portion of the hearings into public protection focused on prison closures and the economic impact it will have on upstate communities.
To cushion the blow, the Governor announced the creation of a task force to address local concerns as well as provide financial assistance.
There wasn’t much the administration could do to remedy another sock to the upstate economy – this one from the Governor’s own pick to head up Economic Development – Ken Adams
DeFrancisco, a Republican who hails from Syracuse, also made the point that Adams will be asked about the statement when he comes before the State Senate to be confirmed, something which he has yet to be.
It should also be noted that a powerful Democrat, Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari who also spoke with the Capitol Report echoes DeFrancisco’s remarks, that regionalization is critical to the upstate economy.
