SYRACUSE -- A child who was allegedly burned by a Binghamton man is now recovering in the Burn Unit at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Christopher Chisholm, 23, of 10 Longview Ave., is charged with assault in the case. State police say Chisholm severely burned a 1-year-old boy by immersing him in extremely hot water. Police say it happened while the child's mother was at work. The little boy suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton before being transferred to Syracuse.

Chisholm was arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court and sent to the Brooke County jail without bail.
