SYRACUSE -- Saving gas is the focus of cars on display at the 2011 Syracuse Auto Expo.
More than 300 cars of all makes and models are on display at the Oncenter. Tim Kristoff, chairman of this year's Expo, says even the larger cars are getting better gas mileage than ever before.
"What we are seeing is good gas mileage. Even from trucks and vans and SUV's. We have some full size pickup trucks that are getting in excess of 20 miles to a gallon on the highway and some of our SUV's are in the 20-25 mile a gallon range," he says.
New this year to the Auto Expo is a special category of cars that get over 35 miles to the gallon. One of the stars of that category is the Chevrolet Volt, the car that runs on electricity and can get up to 40 miles on one charge.
Kristoff says car sales, which have been down for years, are starting to rebound.
"We are seeing a large increase in sales. Things are picking up. It's not where we were three or four years ago, but we are seeing an increase," he says.
