JAMESVILLE -- A local church is about to make history.

St. Mary's Church in Jamesville was closed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse in 2007 as part of a reconfiguration plan. The parishioners have been vigorously fighting the closure ever since.

Saturday, their appeal will be the first case of its kind to make it all the way to the Vatican. Friday night, parishioners held a vigil to pray for the members of the council who will hear the case.
