SYRACUSE (AP) -- A 35-year-old Syracuse man admits he tried to kill his wife by shooting her four times last March.
Cecil Torrence III pleaded guilty in Onondaga County Court Monday to attempted second-degree murder for shooting Lisa Torrence in their home.
Prosecutors sought a 20-year prison sentence, but Judge Anthony Aloi promised Torrence a sentence of 18 years.
According to the prosecutor, Torrence suspected his wife was cheating on him, but she denies that. Torrence shot his wife while she was in the bathtub, then fled. She managed to crawl outside and collapse, naked, in a snowbank. Neighbors heard her weak cries for help and called police.
Sentencing is set for April 6.
