SYRACUSE -- Crews were on the scene of a house fire in Syracuse early this morning.

The call came into 911 around 4:30 a.m. for a fire at 507 Hickory Street, between North Townsend Street and North McBride Street. Firefighters on the scene tell us when they arrived they found heavy fire on the first floor. Crews were able to locate six people inside the home, and everyone made it out safely.

Additional fire companies were called in to help battle the flames. No word yet on how the fire started.

The scene is across the street from the St. Joseph's Hospital complex, so if you are heading to the hospital you may run into some traffic delays and detours.
