MANLIUS -- The Fayetteville-Manlius girls' cross country team is getting some national recognition.
ESPN The Magazine has named them the best cross country team in the nation.
The girls have won five straight national championships, and ESPN paid a visit to F-M High School to honor the team.
Cross country may be an individual sport, but one of the stars for the Lady Hornets says the reason for their success is teamwork.
"Obviously we train really hard and we work hard. We have an amazing coach that works tirelessly and also we just have great communication within the team. All the girls, we really care about each other, and for us it is not just a sports endeavor. It's like our family," says Christie Rutledge.
But the cross country team isn't the only team getting recognition. The entire FMHS sports program has been ranked sixth best in the country.
ESPN magazine has produced a video honoring the team which will be available to view sometime in the next week at ESPN RISE.
