SYRACUSE -- Former Syracuse superstar Carmelo Anthony made a splash in his debut with the New York Knicks.
Anthony suited up for the Knicks Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden against the Milwaukee Bucks. 'Melo started, and finished as the team's lead scorer with 27 points and 10 rebounds. The Knicks won 114-108.
Fans at Tully's on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse were happy to cheer on Carmelo's new team. They tell CNYcentral it feels like a homecoming of sorts for the player who lead the Syracuse Orange basketball team to it's only national championship. While some fans say it's strange to see him in a Knicks uniform, they're happy to see him back in New York.
Ralph Carrasquillo says, "I'm a tremendous Knicks fan. I'm so happy the Knicks are relevant now. Carmelo is amazing."
Orange fan Andrea Zangari says, "I think it's really god because he used to be my favorite SU player. I used to really like him when I was younger, so it's awesome to see him here."
'Melo's next game will be Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
