Mainly snow for the area. A variety of accumulation
A winter storm warning is in effect for just about our entire viewing area through late this afternoon into the dinnertime hours of this evening.
After analyzing the very latest weather data from a variety of computer models available to us, it now appears that the majority, if not all of the viewing area will receive only snow. A wintry mixture of sleet and freezing rain is still possible between Binghamton, Oneonta and Albany and points southeast into the Catskills. With snow the only precipitation type, the amount of snow is still variable depending on where you live.

Note that the heaviest snow will likely occur across areas near the Route 20 corridor and especially south of this along the central and southern tier and Finger Lakes. The highest elevations of these locations will likely receive the higher end of the 7-12" that we have forecasted for these central and southern tier locations. Along the Thruway corridor, expect between 5-7" of snow. North of the Route 31 corridor expect 3-5" of snow. However, further north into sections of the North Country, expect only 1-3" of snow.
This storm has covered a large piece of real estate. This will be large and impactful storm for many parts of the country. Keep track of all of the severe weather watches and warnings across the country here. You will want to call ahead to your airline and also keep an eye on this website for potential airport problems.
