UTICA -- A Utica man is accused of throwing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs.

Utica police charged Brian Viscusie, 40, with 3rd degree assault.

They say the attack happened January 24th.

The woman sustained a collapsed lung, broken ribs and claimed to have lost consciousness. She was treated at St. Luke's Hospital for her injuries.

A YWCA domestic violence advocate is now working with the woman to provide counseling.
