ONONDAGA CO. -- Several Onondaga County roads will be closed to traffic for the next month as part of a sewer project.
Grand Avenue will be closed between Cadwell and Lydell Streets until March 25th due to construction associated with the Harbor Brook Interceptor Sewer Project.
The project is part of Onondaga County's Save the Rain Program, which includes the installation of a new interceptor sewer and associated sanitary and storm sewer connections at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Herriman Street.
Here is the detour information provided by the county:
Grand Avenue traffic will be detoured at Delaware Street and Velasko Road. The detour will use Delaware Street, South Geddes Street, West Onondaga Street, and Velasko Road. Local traffic, including Syracuse City School District buses, will have access from Grand Avenue on either side of the road closure.CENTRO Route 66 will be unaffected by the closure and buses should run as scheduled, however CENTRO Route 38 will be affected. Save the Rain is part of the county's efforts to cleanup and restore Onondaga Lake. The project, which is slated to receive up to $12 million in grants from the federal stimulus program, $10 million for the sewer work and $2 million for green infrastructure, is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
