Both say CNY is a good place to do business
Two new companies, one from Canada, the other from Germany, are making Syracuse their US headquarters.
Both will be based at downtown Syracuse's Tech Garden, in the base of the AXA towers, and that's where the announcement was this morning.
ProTerra does energy efficient high-output lighting. It expects to add 100 direct jobs here over the next 3 to 5 years, and an estimated thousand more supply chain and installation jobs for contractors and suppliers.
SunEnergy develops solar systems for businesses, government and schools. It expects to add 12 direct jobs, but to also spur job growth in contractors-based businesses. Besides 'traditional' roof based solar collectors, the company's also looking at setting up energy collecting in landfills and brownfields.
The heads of both companies were full of praise for Syracuse as a place to do business, and the help of government in setting up here. "Is there something in the water here?" asked ProTerra President Keith Miles. He told the packed house at the announcement that every municipality should use Syracuse's model to attract new business.
