SYRACUSE -- By all indications Sunday afternoon, you can go ahead and give the green light to this year's St. Patrick's Parade.

People packed into Kitty Hoynes in downtown Syracuse Sunday afternoon for the final fundraising push.  Complete with bagpipers and a live band, the crowd inside the bar did its part to make sure Salina Street is painted green next Saturday.

For the second straight year, concerns over funding have overshadowed the annual parade.  Parade President Janet Higgins said it takes about $30,000 to put on the parade this year -- covering liability insurance, the cost of performers and administrative costs.  Coming into Sunday, Higgins said they were about $5,000 short, but was optimistic today's fundraiser would get them over the hump.

"It's really amazing, the generosity of Central New Yorkers is just unparalleled, I think, to anywhere in the country," said Higgins.

Higgins said the finishing touches will be put on the parade this week.  She also said there could be a surprise announcement Monday or Tuesday.  We'll keep you posted.
